La Parranda is a Venezuelan folk ensemble dedicated to the diffusion of Venezuelan music rhythms. ”La Parranda” means ”fun” and is devoted to present and exhibit traditional and popular Venezuelan music and is available for informal folkloric events. La Parranda has participated in festivals in Calgary since 2014. Their first presentation was at the Main stage of the Globalfest and since then La Parranda has participated in Fiestaval, Expolatino, Globalfest and the Venezuelan Culture Days. The core musicians of La Parranda are experienced afro-venezuelan percussionist Luis El Pana Tovar and cuatro player and singer Arturo Rondon. La Parranda is part of the Cantares Venezuelan Cultural Foundation.
